Travel Numbers

Whoo boy. Since we just wrapped up the first half of 2017, and I'm finally in a lull of travel (until late August, at least), I thought I'd take stock and document all the travel I've done since joining Brains on Fire last April. It's a doozy.

*Just counting base miles on my Delta account. No MQMs, no bonus miles.

Days Away from Home: 93

  • 2016: 47 days, all work
  • 2017: 46 days (33 days for work, 13 days for Taiwan)

If you're keeping score, that means over 455 days (April 1, 2016 — June 30, 2017), I was on the road for 20.4% of those days. In the first half of 2017 alone, that meant I spent 1 out of every 4 days away from home. This also counted for 15 weekends on the road for work (April 1, 2016 — June 30, 2017).

* Ok, that's a fake number, but you would NOT believe how difficult it is to rid yourself of that fine, silty, dusty stuff that's everywhere in the Southwest. Weeks after the fact, you could still see little clouds of dust puffing up if I stomped my boots a little bit.
